Guerrilla Librarians

Guerrilla Librarians is an open call to be a part of forming how your local library grows into the future. You could also describe it as being like a Wikipedia edit-a-thon except with physical books, and real cash to writers and publishers.

I love libraries, but sometimes my local library doesn’t have a certain book or author in their collection. Sometimes it even seems that they are totally underrepresenting large parts of human experience that isn’t white male and European. Become a Guerrilla Librarian and help your local library as it works to address this legacy of injustice in its collection.

Here’s how:

  1. Get a library card.
  2. Search your local library’s catalog and identify any of its omissions, blind spots, absences. No queer 19th century fiction? Intersectional theory? Diasporic memoirs?
  3. Locate the “purchase request” form or link on your local library’s website.
  4. Make a request!
  5. Repeat as desired 😃
